Class A Uniforms – Represents the official uniform required by the Boy Scouts of America. We require the official Class A uniform to be worn at Pack Meeting and special events, this includes official shirt, insignias, Rank neckerchief and slide, belt and Adventure Colors (Webelos/AOL), shoulder loops (AOL only). Other optional items include Rank hat, pants/shorts, socks, Rank handbook.
Awards are worn both on the shirt and the belt so these really are a must. Lions through Bears Adventure loops are worn on the Cub Scout’s belt. Webelos can wear Adventure pins on Rank Hat or Adventures Colors. AOL scout wear Adventure pins on Adventures Colors. Keep in mind when purchasing a new uniform that your child is growing; buying a larger size that your child can wear throughout his or her pack tenure can be a smart move.
Insignia – There will be many of these that need to be sewn on your scout’s shirt (especially at the beginning). There is a designated place for each one on the shirt. Refer to your scout’s Handbook, Den Leader or Scout Shop for specific placement information. The Scout Shop will sew these on for you for a fee or you can do this yourself.
It is important that when your scout receives an earned advancement Rank Badge that is a part of their uniform, you affix it to their shirt as soon as possible after completing a “good turn”. Which means performing a voluntary act of kindness or helpfulness.
Activity patches (for participation in activities) are NOT a part of the official uniform but can be worn on the right pocket on your uniform (one at a time) or can be put on a red felt “Brag Vest” and worn at meetings and events.

Class B Uniform – Is an informal uniform designated by the Pack. Pack 840’s Class B uniform is the Pack 840 T-shirt. Class B uniforms are worn for work projects, sporting activities, and other events in which the dress uniform might get damaged. We encouraged Class B t-shirts to be worn at Den meeting to represent your Cub Scout Pack. Watch for information on ordering times through our Pack, if interested.
