The BSA is the national organization responsible for developing and managing the requirements of the Scout program. The Indian Nations Council (INC) is the local organization that supports the Scout program in Oklahoma. Pack 840 is within the Will Roger District and are chartered by Faith Lutheran Church.
Cubmaster – Helps plan and carry out the pack program with the help of the pack committee. Emcees the monthly pack meeting and attends the pack committee meeting
Pack Committee – These are adult volunteers that perform administrative functions of the pack. The committee meets monthly and includes the Pack Committee Chairperson, who is the administrative head of the Pack, the Treasurer, Advancement Chair, and Secretary. Every Cub Scout parent or guardian is invited to become a member of the pack committee.
Den leader – Each den is led by an adult den leader in addition to other parents, together they plan and carry out a year-round program of activities for the den. Many parents serve as a Den Leader or Assistant Den Leader. They also attend the monthly pack committee meeting.
You – the parent/guardian, have a role in running the Pack, your scout’s den and in controlling the quality of your scout’s overall scouting experience. You do this by:
- Volunteering to assist the Pack in some way during the year. (This is a requirement for all parents),
- Encouraging your scout to participate in den and pack meetings and events,
- Encouraging rank advancement and earning badges and awards.
- Support your den leader by helping with meetings, outings and den “control”.
- Supporting the Pack fund-raising activities.
- Sharing your ideas and talents to improve the den and the Pack.
- Assist in recruitment of new scouts. Being a positive advocate for Scouting and the Pack.
- Become a leader or assistant leader yourself, back up the leader in an emergency.
Your role as a parent, whether a Den Leader or Member of the Pack Committee, is the secret to a successful Cub Scouting program!
The Pack is run totally by volunteers – none of the positions are paid. The opportunities are many; some are big, some are small, but there is something for everyone. We ask families to assist on different committees and at various events throughout the year. Some examples include Food Drive, popcorn sales, pinewood derby, activity planning, Class B t-shirt, Blue and Gold, etc. Please complete the Membership Form (found on our website – coming soon) so, we will know where you will be able to assist the Pack.
